48V 45Ah Trike Battery

The 48V 45Ah Trike Battery is a 48-volt LiFePO4 pack of 2,160 watt-hours with a 90-amp continuous rating, rated IP65, built to drop into the lead battery box of a cargo trike.

Direct Replacement

One case for four blocks

The pack is dimensioned to sit in the tray four 12-volt lead batteries occupy on a standard electric trike. The four blocks and their three interconnect cables come out and one case with one pair of leads goes in. A 48-volt 45 amp-hour lead set weighs near 60 kilograms; this pack weighs 19.

Carrying Loads

What a loaded trike asks for

A vendor cart or a courier trike carries 150 to 300 kilograms and pulls hard from every stop. The 90-amp continuous rating covers a 1,000 to 1,500-watt motor working under that load, and the 150-amp peak takes the launch. Range holds up because the pack delivers its full amp-hours rather than the half a lead set gives.

Where lead fails first

A working trike empties its battery every day. Lead gives 300 to 500 such cycles before capacity collapses, roughly a year. This pack gives 2,000, and it takes the partial charges a driver snatches between runs without the sulfation that ends a lead set early.

Vibration on a working trike

A cargo trike rides on stiff suspension over rough surfaces, and the battery box takes every one of those hits. Bolt the pack down rather than letting it sit loose in the tray, pack any gap with dense foam, and check the terminal torque after the first week. A pack free to move works its terminals loose and chafes its own leads.
