12V 280Ah LiFePO4 Battery

The 12V 280Ah LiFePO4 Battery is a 3,584 watt-hour block built on 280Ah prismatic cells, with a 200-amp continuous rating, on M8 terminals, rated IP65. It is a full-time RV and off-grid house battery.

Full-Time Power

A day and a half of everything

A full-time rig runs its whole domestic load off a bank this size: the fridge and freezer, lights, water, a fan, electronics and a 2,000-watt inverter for cooking. 3,584 watt-hours carry a day and a half of that with the depth of discharge kept shallow. The 200-amp rating feeds the inverter direct.

The 280 Cell

Fewer, larger cells

The block is built on four 280Ah prismatic cells rather than a stack of smaller ones. Fewer cells leave fewer internal joints for the BMS to watch and a cleaner path for the current. The larger cell also gives the monitoring true cell-level data rather than readings averaged across paralleled groups.

Against Lead

Store and weight

Reaching 280Ah in lead takes three or four heavy batteries past 80 kilograms for about 140 usable amp-hours. This block gives the full 280 amp-hours at 29 kilograms.

Solar

Sizing the array

A full-time rig off-grid sizes its solar to the daily draw. A 600 to 800-watt roof array refills 3,584 watt-hours across a day of good sun, and the battery carries the evening and a cloudy morning. Two blocks in parallel double the store for a rig that parks in the shade or runs an air conditioner.

Charging

Charge at 14.6 volts from a lithium charger or an LFP solar controller sized to a full-time rig. Blocks parallel for a larger bank once the resting voltages line up.
