The 12V 170Ah LiFePO4 Battery is a 2,176 watt-hour block with a 150-amp continuous rating, on M8 terminals, rated IP65. It suits a towable RV or a fifth-wheel run off-grid on solar.
Off-Grid Towable
A day and a half on solar
A fifth-wheel parked off-grid draws 100 to 140 amp-hours a day across its fridge, lights, water, fan, electronics and an inverter for coffee and tools. 2,176 watt-hours carry a day and a half. A 400 to 600-watt roof array refills that draw in decent sun, and the battery holds the evening and a gray morning.
The Solar Match
Panel and controller
A larger array wants an LFP-profile controller sized to the panel current. The 150-amp rating on the battery covers a 1,500-watt inverter and the daytime charge together. Two blocks in parallel make a 340-amp-hour bank for a longer boondock, matched by resting voltage first.
Against Lead
Store and weight
Reaching 170Ah in lead takes two heavy batteries near 50 kilograms for about 85 usable amp-hours. This block gives the full 170 amp-hours at 17.5 kilograms.
On The Road
The tow-charge
On the road the tow vehicle refills the bank. A DC-DC charger between the truck alternator and the battery pushes 20 to 40 amps on a drive, enough to recover a day’s boondock use across a few hours of towing. The alternator cannot charge lithium safely direct. The DC-DC unit steps it to the 14.6-volt profile the battery takes.
