The 16V Drag Racing LFP Battery is a 16-volt 30 amp-hour pack rated 1,200 cold-cranking amps, weighing 4.5 kilograms in a shock-resistant IP65 case. It is built for drag and circuit cars running a 16-volt electrical system.
Why 16 Volts
What the extra volts buy

A race car on a 16-volt system spins its starter faster against high compression, and it feeds the ignition boxes, fuel pumps and solenoids at the top of their operating range. Coil output and pump flow both climb with supply voltage. On a total-loss car with the alternator removed, the higher starting voltage also leaves more usable range before the system falls to where the ignition drops out.
Weight
The eight-pound class
At 4.5 kilograms the pack sits in the weight class racers build around, against 18 to 22 kilograms for the 16-volt lead battery it replaces. That is 14 kilograms off the car, and on a drag car it comes off wherever the builder wants ballast least.
Vibration
Mounting in a race car
The cells are clamped and damped inside the case rather than resting on lugs. Launch shock, chassis flex and the constant vibration of a race engine all pass into the battery mount, and a plate-built lead battery loses material under that treatment. The sealed case also keeps the pack safe in a boot-mounted install where a spill would be a scrutineering failure.

What 16 volts does downstream
A 16-volt bus raises the voltage every device sees. Ignition boxes, fuel pumps and starters built for the higher system handle it. Radios, data loggers and anything rated for 12 volts want a reducer between them and the bus. Plan that wiring before the swap, and label the charge connector clearly to keep a 12-volt charger off the pack.

Fit
Charging
A 16-volt pack needs a 16-volt lithium charger set to 18.25 volts. A 12-volt charger cannot fill it and a lead 16-volt charger overshoots the cell limits. Charge between rounds and check the pack voltage before staging.
