The 24V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery is a 25.6-volt pack of 2,560 watt-hours with a 100-amp continuous rating, rated IP65. It is the working size for truck parking air conditioning, 24-volt RV systems and marine house banks.

Sizing A Sleeper

Hours of cooling per charge

LiFePO4 battery cells

Parking air conditioners split by compressor. A rotor unit draws about 400 watts on its sleep setting and 700 to 800 watts on strong. A scroll unit takes 600 watts asleep and up to 1,000 on strong. Against 2,560 watt-hours that works out near six hours on a rotor unit in sleep mode, or three at full output. A driver who wants a whole night with margin pairs two of these packs or steps up to the 200 amp-hour size.

The Rest Of The Cab

Loads beside the air conditioner

A sleeper carries more than the cooler: a fridge, a microwave through an inverter, lights, a television and phone charging. Those add 30 to 60 amp-hours across a night. Count them into the budget before choosing pack size, since an air conditioner sized to the last watt-hour leaves nothing for the rest.

Cold Weather

The standard pack and the heated one

This pack discharges down to minus twenty and blocks charge below freezing to protect the cells. In a cold-country cab the battery works overnight and takes its charge once the cab warms or the engine runs. Where the truck must charge in the freeze, the self-heating version handles it.

On The Road

How fast the truck refills it

A DC-DC charger between the alternator and the pack sets the refill rate. A 40-amp unit puts back 100 amp-hours in about two and a half hours of driving, and a 60-amp unit does it in under two. The DC-DC stage also shields the alternator from the flat-out current a lithium pack will accept.

Fit

Charging

Charge at 29.2 volts from a 24-volt lithium charger, a DC-DC converter off the truck alternator, or a solar controller on a 24-volt LFP profile. A DC-DC unit protects the alternator from a hard lithium charge demand.
