The Motorcycle LFP Starter 2.5Ah is a 12.8-volt lithium starter battery rated 150 cold-cranking amps, weighing 0.6 kilograms in an IP65 case. It goes into small-displacement road bikes and off-road machines that carry a battery for the lights and the electronics rather than for hard cranking.
Weight
Under a kilogram on the frame

A lead battery of this size weighs 2.2 to 2.5 kilograms. This one weighs 0.6. On a dirt bike or a light dual-sport that saving comes off high on the frame, where a rider feels it in how the machine flicks side to side. A race machine strips weight in far smaller increments than the 1.8 kilograms this swap gives back.
The Duty
Small engines, light loads
150 cold-cranking amps start a single-cylinder engine of 125 to 250cc with an electric starter, and they cover the ignition, lights and fuel pump on a kick-start machine carrying a battery for its electrics alone. The 32 watt-hours hold the running loads on a bike with no charging output to spare, such as a competition machine with a small stator.
Case
Fitment and shimming
The 113 by 70 by 85 millimetre case is smaller than the lead battery tray it replaces on many bikes. Foam or a moulded spacer packs out the gap, and the sealed case takes mounting in any orientation. The IP65 rating covers the wash-downs and the water crossings an off-road machine sees.
The Trade
What 32 watt-hours will not do
Capacity is the price of the weight saving. 32 watt-hours run the ignition and lights for minutes rather than hours with the engine stopped, and a bike left with the key on flattens the pack quickly. These go on machines with a working charging system and few standing loads. A trail bike carrying heated grips or a long-burning auxiliary light wants one of the larger packs in this range.

Fit
Charging
The bike’s own charging system fills the battery on the move. Off the bike, use a lithium-specific charger at 14.6 volts. A lead trickle charger with a desulfation or pulse mode damages lithium cells and has no place on this battery.
