12V 18Ah LiFePO4 Battery

12.8V 18Ah LiFePO4 battery, 230.4Wh, M5 terminals. For sprayers, mobility scooters, larger solar lamps and electric fence energizers.

SKU: DC12-18 Category:

The 12V 18Ah LiFePO4 battery is a 12.8-volt block of 230.4 watt-hours on M5 bolt terminals. It steps out of the spade-terminal toy-and-alarm range into equipment that pulls a steadier working current, such as sprayers, mobility scooters and fence energizers.

Working Loads

Current for real tools

LiFePO4 12V battery pack

A FIMCO-class pump draws about 10 amps at 60 psi, which is inside this block’s 18-amp continuous rating. Run continuously it would empty the 18-amp-hour pack in under two hours, but spot-spraying pulses the pump in bursts, so one charge covers a day of work across several tanks. The M5 terminals take the ring lugs that heavier wiring uses rather than the push-on spades of the smaller blocks.

Mobility

Range from the pair

Mobility scooters run 24 volts from two 12V batteries in series, and this is a common size for them. At roughly 20 watt-hours a mile, a pair of these blocks holds about 23 miles of range, and the lithium weight saving of two to three kilograms a battery lifts off the frame the rider carries.

Standby

Fences and lamps

The same block sizes the battery on a higher-wattage solar street or area lamp for the nights of autonomy an installer specifies. On those duties it cycles shallow and rests charged, and it replaces a lead block of two to three times its weight.

Fencing

Sizing a fence charger

A 12-volt fence energizer draws on the order of half an amp on a typical unit, which this 18-amp-hour pack alone would carry for about a day and a half, which is why these installations pair the battery with a solar panel matched to the energizer: 6 to 10 watts for a half-joule unit, 12 to 20 watts for one to two joules. A low-drain energizer of a few tens of milliamps runs a week or more between charges.

Fit

Terminals and charging

Torque the M5 ring lugs to the datasheet figure and check the joints after the first hard use. Charge at 14.6 volts from a lithium charger, or set a solar controller to an LFP profile with no equalization stage for a panel-fed installation. The BMS carries overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, short-circuit and low-temperature charge protection, discharge runs from minus twenty to sixty degrees, and storage sits at 30 to 50 percent charge.
